The consequences of the corona pandemic burden the annual results of the Cantonal Hospital Winterthur with around 30 million francs. In 2020, however, there is a small profit of 1.7 million francs.

Last year, 600 Covid-19 patients were treated at the Winterthur Cantonal Hospital. Because of the pandemic, KSW had to make major changes to its operations and hire an additional 60 employees.
This affected the profit. “The corona effect burdened the result with around 30 million francs,” writes the KSW in a press release on Wednesday. The decline is fully due to the loss of revenues and additional costs due to the pandemic. The hospital closes the 2020 financial year with a small profit of 1.7 million francs. In the previous year, the KSW had made a profit of 29.1 million francs.
