TOKYO, JAPAN – September 17, 2025 ⁤- Residents of the Kanto region are experiencing what ⁣is forecast to be the last day of intense summer heat for the year, with temperatures expected to remain high throughout today, September 18th. Following this, a significant shift in weather patterns will bring heavy rainfall to the⁤ area beginning this evening, ⁢marking a definitive end to the prolonged heatwave.

This transition signals ‍a broader ⁤change in the region’s ⁢weather, prompting questions about the lingering effects of the summer’s⁤ heat adn potential impacts on public health ⁣and seasonal transitions. Weather forecaster Aisa Shibamoto of the japan Meteorological Association Head Office notes the importance of preparing ‌for both the final burst of heat and the subsequent rainfall. Shibamoto, a certified heat stroke prevention instructor, emphasizes the need for continued vigilance against heat-related illnesses today, while also urging ‍preparedness for potential localized flooding and disruptions caused by the approaching rain.

Born in Nagano ⁢Prefecture, Shibamoto developed an early interest in weather patterns due to a childhood spent moving throughout the region. She currently holds certifications in Japanese cosmetics and is a cosmetic concierge in addition to her role as a⁣ weather forecaster.

The Japan Weather Association will continue to provide updates on the ⁢developing weather situation.
