TOKYO, JAPAN – September 17, 2025 - Residents of the Kanto region are experiencing what is forecast to be the last day of intense summer heat for the year, with temperatures expected to remain high throughout today, September 18th. Following this, a significant shift in weather patterns will bring heavy rainfall to the area beginning this evening, marking a definitive end to the prolonged heatwave.

Weather forecaster Aisa Shibamoto of the japan Meteorological Association Head Office notes the importance of preparing for both the final burst of heat and the subsequent rainfall. Shibamoto, a certified heat stroke prevention instructor, emphasizes the need for continued vigilance against heat-related illnesses today, while also urging preparedness for potential localized flooding and disruptions caused by the approaching rain.
