Kansas City, MO – A Kansas City man pleaded guilty Wednesday, December 6, 2023, to federal charges stemming from a series of rapes and robberies targeting three women between February and March of 2023. The Justice Department confirmed the guilty plea of 32-year-old deandre K. Johnson.
The case highlights a concerning pattern of violent crime impacting the Kansas City metropolitan area and underscores ongoing efforts by federal and local authorities to hold perpetrators accountable. Johnson’s plea avoids a trial and carries a potential sentence of up to life in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for February 28, 2024, before U.S.District Judge Brian C. Wimes.
According to court documents,Johnson admitted to approaching the women separately,often under the guise of offering assistance,before forcibly assaulting and robbing them. The incidents occurred in Kansas City, Missouri, and involved threats of violence.
Investigators connected Johnson to the crimes through forensic evidence and witness identification.He was initially arrested in April 2023 and has been held in federal custody since.
