Harris Accuses Buisness Leaders of ‘Fecklessness’ in Face of Trump‘s ‘Tyranny‘
WASHINGTON,D.C. - September 23, 2025 – Former Vice President Kamala Harris sharply criticized prominent business leaders for remaining silent in the face of what she termed Donald Trump’s “tyranny,” accusing them of prioritizing personal gain over the defense of democratic institutions.
In a recent interview, Harris described the silence as “feckless,” adding, “It’s not like they’re going to lose their yacht or their house in the Hamptons.” She warned that “Democracy sustains capitalism,” and asserted the U.S. is currently confronting a situation comparable to “communist dictators.”
“that’s what we’re dealing with right now in Donald Trump, and these titans of industry are not speaking up,” Harris stated. She suggested their silence may stem from fear of retribution, citing potential threats and the use of the federal government to target critics. Harris also posited that business leaders might be seeking favorable outcomes, such as merger approvals or avoiding federal investigations. ”At some point, they’ve got to stand up for the sake of the people who rely on all of these institutions,” she urged.
The former Vice President also addressed remarks made in her new book, ”107 Days,” regarding President Biden’s decision to seek a second term, acknowledging a “obligation” she felt she should have followed through on by questioning his ”recklessness” in running again. She clarified that she believed raising concerns at the time would have appeared “wholly self-serving.”
Harris also highlighted public resistance to Trump’s actions, citing the recent controversy surrounding Jimmy Kimmel’s show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and its scheduled return to air after being temporarily suspended following a monologue critical of the GOP and President Trump after the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. She emphasized the “power of the people” demonstrated through public support for Kimmel’s show, which she saeid “moved a decision in the right direction.”
