Aigars Kalvītis was re-elected President of the Latvian Hockey Federation (LHF) on Tuesday, the LHF reports.

Kalvitis was the only candidate for the presidency in this congress. He has been President of the LHF since 2016, when long-time President Kirov Lipman was unexpectedly overthrown in Congress.
The annual LHF Congress brought together 54 members, of whom 44 had the right to vote. Initially, the number of voting members was 36, but during the congress, members joined eight other organizations, including the Latvian Hockey Veterans Association.
Towards the end of the congress, Viesturs Koziols, Secretary General and member of the Board, nominated Kalvitis as the presidential candidate. No other candidate was nominated and re-voted unanimously by LHF members. Although no member abstained or voted against, the news agency LETA observed that Oskars Bārtulis did not raise his bulletin.
Later, Kalvītis nominated 12 candidates for the members of the Board, among whom were the current Board officials Valentīns Bļugers, Koziols, Māris Martinsons, Armands Šteinbergs, Edgars Jansons, as well as Ralfs Bukarts. Four candidates were also nominated from their clubs. Among them were “Prizma” representative Miks Dzindulis, Oskars Mors (“Liepāja”), Andis Pikāns (“Kurbads”) and Aivars Zeltiņš (“Jelgava”).
Edgars Buncis and Oleg Sorokins, who were candidates for a member of the Board, are also candidates for the position of a member of the Board.
Six members may be approved by the LHF Board.
At this LHF congress, Kalvītis also presented a report, but the items on the agenda included the approval of the 2019 financial report and the election of the LHF executive bodies.
Previously, Kalvītis also worked as a member of the LHF board. From November 2010 to September 2015, he was the Chairman of the Board of JSC Dinamo Rīga, the owner of the Continental Hockey League Latvian Club Riga “Dinamo”. Currently, Kalvītis is the Chairman of the Board of JSC Latvijas Gāze.
