Kalray wants to take over Arcapix to strengthen its position in intelligent data processing

Kalray, a French nugget specializing in chips for artificial intelligence, is in exclusive negotiations for the acquisition of the British Arcapix. An acquisition, mentioned on January 20, 2022 by the interested parties, which would allow Kalray to strengthen itself in the storage and intelligent processing of data. “Kalray plans to acquire 100% of the capital of Arcapix Holdings Ltd shares for a maximum amount of 464,770 Kalray shares and 0.9 million euros paid in cash subject to closing adjustments”, details the Frenchman.

Combine storage and massively parallel processing

Arcapix, whose turnover amounted to approximately 7 million euros for its last fiscal year, is a software publisher specializing in storage solutions for intensive computing applications. The company, which operates through the Pixitmedia and Arcastream brands, provides storage solutions for the media and entertainment, artificial intelligence, and scientific research markets.

These software solutions are complementary to Kalray processors. The French nugget is developing a new type of processor for massively parallel processing, suitable for on-the-fly processing of large data streams for critical real-time decision-making. Kalray’s processors are useful for cloud and edge-level data processing.

Take advantage of the commercial strength of Arcapix
“As data increasingly shapes the modern world, its management becomes increasingly critical and must meet increasing demands for performance, scalability and flexibility., notes Ben Leaver, president and co-founder of Arcapix. We have demonstrated our ability to meet these requirements. With Kalray, we will be able to accelerate, both technologically and commercially.”. These solutions for storing and processing large amounts of data are essential for artificial intelligence technologies, the arrival of 5G, video streaming and real-time analyses.

“I am delighted with this planned acquisition, which will accelerate the marketing and commercialization of our solutions, as well as strengthen our position in the storage market for supercomputing”, commented Éric Baissus, chairman of the management board of Kalray, in a press release. Arcapix has more than 50 employees, including a sales and support force of more than 30 people. With this acquisition, the French nugget founded in 2008 in Grenoble will also benefit from new customers and partners as well as from the network of Arcapix resellers.
