As the race progressed, his car performed better, allowing him to overtake competitors. With approximately eight to ten laps remaining, Johnson closed in on the third-place car but hesitated slightly before attempting a pass. This delay allowed another driver to overtake him momentarily. However, Johnson quickly regained his composure, reclaiming fourth and then third place before the white flag signaled the final lap. Earlier in the week, Johnson competed at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn., with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series. He qualified 11th quickest in his group but experienced a setback during a heat race when he was involved in a crash. “I got into a car barely going into turn one on the first lap,” he explained. “It bent the drag link. after that, the car was tough to drive. I kept getting super tight in turns three and four. With two or three laps to go, I got super tight, and before you knew it, I was in the fence.” The incident forced him to retire from the heat race and ultimately prevented him from participating in the C Main event.
