Juventus is being investigated regarding allegations of falsification of financial statements. If proven, the Bianconeri could be forced to relegate to Serie B Italian League.
President Andrea Agnelli, Vice President Pavel Nedved, and former Sports Director Fabio Paratici who now works for Tottenham Hotspur are being investigated by the authorities. There were also three other people from the club’s commercial section.
Guardia di Finanza (the legal authority in Italy that deals with financial crime cases) visited the Juventus office last week. They searched for information and took a number of important documents during 2018-2021 for investigation.
The Public Prosecutor in Turin opened the case after CONSOB (the Italian government agency that oversees the securities market) conducted an investigation last July and COVISOC (the supervisory body for football clubs in Italy) also submitted a report which was investigated by the Federal Prosecutor.
COVISOC considers there are a number of cases related to taking advantage of player transfers that need to be investigated, one of which is the swap between Miralem Pjanic and Arthur Melo in 2020. Now, Juventus is also under criminal investigation, with a financial move of 50 million Euros.
Juventus should not take this lightly. The Old Lady can be thrown into Serie B if proven guilty and the title for the 2018-2021 period can be removed.
