The future of Cristiano Ronaldo is currently causing a lot of talk. The roadmap for the decision-making is now in place.
According to the Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Juve bosses, Cristiano Ronaldo and his advisor Jorge Mendes will sit down after the season and decide how to proceed: CR7 is still tied to the club until summer 2022. This contract is valid and should (as of now) also be adhered to. Juve will definitely meet its obligations, which include an annual salary of EUR 31 million. But if Ronaldo decides that he wants to look for a new challenge after this season, this will be respected. Juve do not want to keep players who want to leave the club.
Ronaldo still has goals
Last weekend, Ronaldo wrote on Instagram that he still has big goals with Juve. However, he will probably only make a final decision at the scheduled meeting after the end of the season.
A return to Real Madrid is unlikely: On the one hand, the La Liga club has financial difficulties and would have problems with the horrific salary. In addition, the Madrilenians are more forward looking and have probably closed the Ronaldo chapter. Instead, future superstars like Kylian Mbappé or Erling Haaland will play a role – even if not this summer.
Real is “happy” about rumors
The Ronaldo rumors are quite right for the Madrilenians: For a long time this season, coach Zinédine Zidane’s poor performance and job security were discussed. Now things are going better again – and if the Spanish media take care of these sideline war slots, Zidane & Co. live very well with them.
The CEO Emilio Butragueno doesn’t seem to want the speculation to end either. When asked if Ronaldo could return, he said succinctly on the sidelines of the Champions League game against Atalanta: “We’ll see.” In doing so, he deliberately does not turn off the rumors. Zidane did not deny the reports before either.
