Juve-De Ligt, after the match, renewal on stand by: he can leave if …

The club’s priority is to extend the contract expiring in 2024 but the agreement is on standby: the Dutchman is not non-transferable, each evaluation starts from the 120 million clause. In the background Chelsea and City

Not only Pogba: in the working lunch with Rafaela Pimenta, Juventus also and above all talked about Matthijs de Ligt, a big hit that the club wants to keep but not without guarantees for the future.

The issue is well known: the Dutchman, who is the highest paid player in the Juventus squad (8 million plus bonuses with which he reaches 12 per year) has a contract expiring in 2024 and a release clause of 120 million. It means that anyone willing to spend that amount (quite high for the current times and in particular for a defender) can take it away without having to deal with the club, a bit like the bianconeri did a few summers ago with Gonzalo Higuain. A contract extension (with consequent spreading of the engagement, which would allow the Lady to lighten the salary) had already been talked about in previous meetings, without however finding a meeting point and even yesterday the parties did not get very close . At stake is also the lowering of the clause, which De Ligt’s entourage would like to bring to 70-80 million to have more market next summer, without cutting his salary.

Juventus reiterated to the Dutchman’s agent that his priority is to renew, but now they are expecting a strong signal from De Ligt too, who had frightened the Juventus fans from the retirement of the national team (“There are talks in progress and when the time comes I will decide whether to extend or look further. I always consider what is best for myself in terms of a sporting project. Two fourth seats in a row are not a satisfactory result, we will need to make progress even if from a personal point of view this it was my best season, in terms of minutes and performances “). Without an opening, market scenarios could open as early as this summer. Juventus, however, does not intend to open a negotiation: De Ligt will leave only if there is someone willing to pay the entire clause, no less. At the moment no offers have been received on the Juventus table, but the interest of Chelsea and also of the City of Guardiola, a club that would have no problem spending 120 million, should be noted.

In the meeting there was also talk of Moise Kean and Luca Pellegrini, both with good chances of leaving Juventus: the blue striker has had several requests from the Premier and also likes the PSG (possible exchange with Paredes), on the outside there are West Ham and Fulham.
