Juve continues to tremble – Italian Cup

Juve are in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals, but had to sit down.

The Italian record champions prevailed in the round of 16 on Wednesday evening after extra time with 3: 2 (2: 1) after extra time against the league rivals CFC Genoa.

With a lightning goal, Dejan Kulusevski (2nd minute) initially gave the Turin hosts the lead at Allianz Stadium, Alvaro Morata increased Juve to 2-0 (23rd). The next goal for Genoa succeeded Lennart Czyborra (28th), Filippo Melegoni scored to equalize (74th). Superstar Cristiano Ronaldo was substituted on late by coach Andrea Pirlo (88th minute).

With the 2-2 draw, it finally went into overtime. In the 104th minute, Hamza Rafia gave Juve the lead after preparation by Ronaldo and Morata. A few minutes later, Genoa had a great chance of equalizing after a corner, but Juves Arthur cleared the line after a Radovanovic header. So it stayed after 120 minutes with the favorite’s 3-2 victory.

In the quarter-finals (January 27th) Juventus will face the winner of the game between Sassuolo and SPAL, which will take place on Thursday.

Napoli had already prevailed 3-2 against Empoli early on Wednesday evening. The southern Italians won 3-2 against Empoli. Giovanni di Lorenzo (18th), Hirving Lozano (38th) and Andrea Petagna (76th) scored for the defending cup champions. Empoli managed to equalize twice through Nedim Bajrami (33rd and 68th). In the quarter-finals on January 27th, Napoli will face the winner of the match between Roma and Spezia (the match will take place next Tuesday).
