Junior Firpo before Barça jump? AC Milan should work on loan

Junior Firpo hardly plays a role at FC Barcelona and could leave the club this summer. Apparently, Serie A top club AC Milan are interested in winning the 24-year-old left-back. According to reports from Italy, the clubs should already exchange ideas.

Junior Firpo at Barça on the sales list

Sergio Agüero, Eric Garcia, Emerson Royal, soon also Memphis Depay: FC Barcelona is already busy strengthening its squad for the 2021/22 season. On the departures side, next to nothing has changed at the Blaugrana so far – apart from the fact that Juan Miranda will continue to wear the Real Betis shirt.

This may change soon, but this does not mean Lionel Messi (contract expires on June 30th). Like the Italian newspaper The Gazzetta dello Sport namely reported that Serie A club AC Milan had an eye on Junior Firpo.

At Barça, the left-back, who was signed by Betis for 18 million euros plus additional payments in August 2018, is of little importance, and there is no getting around veteran Jordi Alba. In the past season, Firpo only played 864 minutes, spread over 18 games, with which he completed just eight percent of the total playing time.

Junior Firpo and Milan: loan with option to buy?

According to reports, negotiations regarding a loan deal are already at an advanced stage, although the Catalans would prefer to sell the 24-year-old directly in order to collect a transfer fee immediately. However, this could come at a later point in time because, as it is said, Milan wants to include a purchase option in the deal.

However, with Barça preferring an immediate sale, the club are hoping a Premier League club will show interest in the left-back. However, he prefers a move to Italy and AC Milan, it is said in the Spanish forest of leaves.

It is said that Firpo had the opportunity to move to the “Rossoneri” as early as January, but the Spaniard, who was born in the Dominican Republic, decided to stay in Barcelona for the time being because of his paternity. Previously, Napoli, West Ham United and Wolverhampton Wanderers had apparently reached out their feelers for the left foot and tapped. In vain. Will he end the Barça chapter for it now, at least for the time being?
