JUNIA Launches Decade-Long Plan to Future-Proof Engineering Education
Saint-Étienne, France – JUNIA, France’s oldest engineering school, today unveiled a sweeping ten-year plan, “JUNIA2035,” designed to radically reshape its pedagogy and ensure graduates are equipped to thrive in a rapidly evolving professional landscape. The initiative, coinciding with the approach of the school’s 150th anniversary, centers on cultivating “change makers” capable of innovation and impactful action.
The core of the transformation is a commitment to 360° training, blending specialized engineering skills with crucial transversal competencies. This holistic approach extends beyond graduation, with JUNIA General director Alexandre Rigal announcing the concept of a “diploma guaranteed for life.” This unprecedented offering will allow alumni to return to JUNIA for continuous upskilling in emerging technologies and professions – at no additional cost – ensuring their skills remain current throughout their careers.
“We want to make each graduate an engineer capable of adapting to changes in the professional world, well after obtaining their diploma,” Rigal stated.
Beyond student preparation, JUNIA is strengthening its ties with industry through collaborative research. The school aims to actively support the technological, environmental, and societal transitions of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and mid-sized companies (ETIs) by applying its scientific expertise to real-world business challenges. Students will participate directly in these projects, gaining practical experience and developing problem-solving skills.
The JUNIA2035 plan also prioritizes accessibility and clarity in its curriculum, while maintaining the versatility needed to respond to ongoing developments in the professional world. The school’s overarching goal is to serve as a vital resource for students, businesses, and the broader regional ecosystem.
