Junction station affects statistics – Gottenheim

Although the death of 14-year-old Ayleen shocked people, Gottenheim is a fairly peaceful community, according to the police’s 2021 crime statistics. This was recently presented to the local council. The police were dissatisfied with the detection rate.

113 criminal offenses were registered in Gottenheim in 2021, six more than in the previous year, but significantly fewer than in 2017 with 139 criminal acts. 50 criminal offenses were cleared up, ten fewer than in 2020, and the clearance rate fell from 56.1 to 44.2 percent. The head of the police station, Christian Schmidt, who presented the statistics with the head of the station responsible for Gottenheim in Btzingen, Armin Zeller, emphasized that the police were also dissatisfied with this.

Extrapolated to 100,000 inhabitants, the number of crimes in Gottenheim results in a frequency of 3875, which roughly corresponds to that of the district (3950) and is below Breisach (5169) and Umkirch (4494). The safest place to live is in Vogtsburg (1846). Another caliber is Freiburg with a frequency of 9500. The number of crimes in Gottenheim is put into perspective by the junction station of the Breisgau S-Bahn. If, for example, a wrong-way driver is asked off the train in Gottenheim, the offense will be attributed to the community.

In 2021, four criminal offenses against sexual self-determination were also reported, there were 15 crimes of brutality, including eight physical injuries, and three times there was violence between partners. 29 thefts were counted, 19 offenses against property and counterfeiting, nine cases involved drugs, and 36 incidents involved other provisions of the penal code. This includes the 25 damage to property. There were no burglaries in 2021. On the other hand, there was an increase of nine to 29 cases in street crime. The 46 suspects identified were mostly adults, five young people under the age of 18 and two young people up to the age of 21. Six perpetrators were not of German nationality, two of them asylum seekers.

In 2021, eight traffic accidents with injuries were registered, ten people were slightly injured and six were seriously injured. The main cause was unmatched speed; eight times the perpetrator left the scene of the accident without permission.
