Julian Assange attends court session in London | Abroad

Assange confirmed his name and age in a blue-gray suit and smooth-shaven. Until recently Assange went through life with a beard. At previous hearings he was present via a video connection from the prison.

The lawyer representing the United States at the extradition session said Assange is being sought for crimes that have endangered people’s lives and that journalism is not an excuse for crime. According to James Lewis, Assange has worked with Chelsea Manning to hack into Ministry of Defense computers.

Lewis also said that Assange had distributed unprocessed material that has endangered the life of sources. “Assange has identified names of informers, journalists, dissidents and others in Iraq and Afghanistan who had helped the US and their allies,” said lawyer Lewis.
