Judoka’s training provisionally canceled after corona infection in selection | NOW

The national training courses for Dutch judokas have been canceled for the time being. Due to a corona infection in the selection, physical contact is not allowed until Thursday 20 August.

It is not known which judoka tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. The Dutch judo association decides not to disclose the name for privacy reasons.

Due to the contamination, judokas at Papendal have to keep a distance of 1.5 meters from each other for the next nine days, as earlier this year, and they are therefore not allowed to spar with each other. The same goes for the programs at the regional training centers.

The news is a big damper for the Dutch judokas, who were happy that they could train fully again at Papendal since the beginning of July. That was not possible in the months before, to the annoyance of many.

The judo season has been halted since March due to the corona crisis. Unlike many other sports, it is not yet clear in judo when the first tournaments can be held again. The season will probably resume this year.
