Juan Guaidó maintains that main opposition figures attend the call for a new pact against the Maduro government

Caracas – The Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaidó said this Sunday that the main opposition figures, as well as a “large number of social sectors”, heeded his call to form a new alliance to face the government of the socialist president Nicolas Maduro.

“We have had a very wide reception in the call (for a new alliance), not only from the leaderships (and) of civil society, (but also) from the different factors that want to exercise and make a difference,” said Guaidó in a message transmitted through their social networks.

In that sense, Guaidó, who is recognized as interim president of Venezuela Through fifty countries, he indicated having received proposals from leaders such as the two-time presidential candidate Henrique Capriles and the leader María Corina Machado for the creation of a new opposition “road map”.

Last Wednesday, Guaidó proposed to the opponents to create a “great unitary pact to face fraud (of the elections on December 6) and save Venezuela.”

The opposition leader said that his proposal includes organizing an event for Venezuelans to express “their true will through a national and international mechanism for massive citizen participation,” an idea he reiterated today, without offering further details.

In the past, the opponents created several platforms to confront Chavismo, the last one called Mesa de la Unidad Democrática (MUD), with which they prevailed with a large majority in the 2015 parliamentary elections.

And in 2017 they organized a popular consultation in which, they assured, 98% of the more than 7,600,000 voters rejected the call for a National Constituent Assembly, which was finally installed with more than 500 members affected by the Maduro government.

Guaidó also said this Sunday that, “given the large number of sectors that have joined” his call, he formed “a team of great Venezuelans” who will support him “in articulating with the sectors and incorporating all ideas.” you are receiving.
