Cowboys Suffer Heartbreaking 13-7 Loss to Nevada on senior day
LARAMIE, Wyo. (Nov. 22,2025) – A late rally fell short as the Wyoming Cowboys dropped a hard-fought 13-7 decision to the Nevada Wolf Pack saturday afternoon at a sold-out War Memorial Stadium. The game also served as Senior day, with 24 Wyoming players honored before kickoff.
The Cowboys also celebrated the career of NFL MVP Josh Allen, retiring his jersey in a halftime ceremony before 25,650 fans – a first for the program.
“There was energy, there was intent, what we didn’t do was get off to the start we needed to get off to, to reflect that,” UW head coach Jay Sawvel said. “We didn’t establish anything offensively, which was frustrating. I hurt for our seniors because a lot of these guys have meant a lot to me. I feel bad that we weren’t able to send them out with a win on a weekend like this.”
Wyoming’s offense managed 220 total yards,including 152 passing yards and 68 rushing yards. nevada finished with 271 yards,gaining 213 on the ground and 58 through the air,and controlled possession for nearly 35 minutes.
Quarterback Kaden Anderson led the Cowboys with 157 passing yards on 22-of-39 attempts, throwing one touchdown. Chris Durr Jr. was the leading receiver with six catches for 34 yards, while Michael Fitzgerald II added four receptions for 53 yards. Running back Sam Scott contributed 48 rushing yards and 32 receiving yards.
Defensively, linebacker Brayden Johnson recorded a career-high 13 tackles. Fellow linebacker Evan Eller added 10 tackles, a career-high three tackles for loss, and a forced fumble, surpassing 300 career tackles in the game.
Nevada opened the scoring with a 90-yard, 13-play drive capped by an eight-yard touchdown pass from Carter Jones to Jett Carpenter. The wolf pack extended their lead with a field goal early in the second half,making it 10-0.
Wyoming responded late in the third quarter with a 21-yard,six-play drive culminating in a five-yard touchdown pass from anderson to tight end Evan Svoboda – the first touchdown of Svoboda’s career – to cut the deficit to 10-7.
Nevada added a 43-yard field goal with 8:35 remaining in the fourth quarter to lead 13-7. The cowboys drove to the Nevada one-yard line but were stopped, sealing their fate.
Caleb Ramseur led Nevada’s rushing attack with 88 yards, while Chubba Purdy added 66. dylan Labarbera paced the Wolf Pack defense with seven tackles.
