Jorginho says why he’d vote for Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne instead of Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski for Ballon d’Or

Chelsea star Jorginho detailed why he voted for Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne over other contenders like Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski and Paris Saint-Germain’s Lionel Messi for Ballon d’Or.

For Jorginho, it comes down to a preference for how De Bruyne plays the game.

“I believe I’d vote for Kevin de Bruyne for everything he’s been doing and for the beautiful football he’s been showing in recent years,” Jorginho told ESPN Brazil. “For those who like football, it’s great to see him play because he understands football; he is a player with above-average intelligence.”

The Chelsea man, however, did joke about wanting to vote for himself.

“If I don’t vote for me, who will? I want to have at least one vote! Just kidding,” Jorginho said. “I’ve always tried to put my game in the Premier League, not the other way around. I learned the issue of physical contact and intensity. I put it in my style, because I don’t have the physical build to want to go into the Premier League style of running and brawling. I get this, I try to insert it into my style of play.”

If more voters prefer to see De Bruyne’s brand of football rather than Lewandowski’s ultra productive style, it could be an uphill battle for the Polish Hitman to be awarded a trophy that he desperately deserves.
