Jonathan Lost, Indonesia 1-2 Canada

Indonesia turned behind 1-2 from Canada in the second match of Group C Sudirman Cup 2021. Jonatan Christie lost 21-9, 20-22, and 18-22 to Brian Yang.

Jonatan Christie played in the third party against Brian Yang at the Energia Arena, Vantaa, Finland, Monday (27/9/2021) night WIB. Previously, Indonesia vs Canada was in a 1-1 draw after Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto’s victory and Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo’s defeat.

Jonathan and Brian had a tight fight in the acquisition of points in the first game. But when he was 7-9 behind, Jonathan shot and won 14 consecutive points to finish the game 21-9.

The second game was more intense. Jonathan had time to immediately open the distance to 6-0, but then Brian could turn around to lead 11-9.

Jonatan Christie back in the lead at 16-12. But Brian Yang fought back and overtook at critical points to seal the second game at 22-20.

In the third game, Jonathan, who was the first to open the points at the start with 4-0, couldn’t keep the momentum going. Brian overtook it to 6-4, then kept the lead until locking in a 21-18 victory.

With this result, Indonesia turned 1-2 behind Canada in the second match of Group C Sudirman Cup 2021. In the next match, Greysia Polii/Apriyani Rahayu women’s doubles will play Rachel Chan/Catherine Choi.
