President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) asked the Indonesian people to continue to be hopeful and optimistic. He told when Indonesia held G20 summit in Bali in the middle of last month.
“We have to be confident in our abilities, we have to be confident and optimistic. We saw yesterday at the G20, right? We can stand tall among the world’s leading countries,” Jokowi said on Saturday (26/11/ 2022).
Jokowi broadcast it to United Archipelago Movement at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, Jakarta. Jokowi then recounted the moment he shook hands with the President of the United States (US) Joe Biden dan Chinese President Xi Jinping.
“When I shook hands with them, President Biden, President Joe Biden, I shook hands too…” Jokowi said.
He had time to demonstrate the way he shook hands with Biden. Jokowi seemed to puff out his chest as he looked forward. The audience roared.
Jokowi said Indonesia is a big country. He demonstrated once again how to shake hands, this time with Xi Jinping.
“When I shake hands with President Xi Jinping, there is a big country, we are also a big country. I shake hands like this,” he said.
Jokowi said he also shook hands without looking down. He again called on the Indonesian people to be confident and optimistic.
“We have to be confident and optimistic, able to stand tall, showing that we are a great country that really has the desire to become a developed country,” he said.
“Work hard, work tirelessly, work hard without giving up, don’t complain a little, don’t complain a little, this is not a hardworking nation,” he added.
