Jokowi Meets Indian PM on the Sidelines of the G7 Summit, Here’s What They Discussed

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) held bilateral meetings with a number of state leaders on the sidelines of the G7 Germany summit, one of which was with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Strengthening cooperation in the food sector was one of the topics discussed at the meeting.

The situation in Ukraine was also discussed by Jokowi and Modi. Jokowi again called for the war to stop immediately.

“I am glad that Indonesia and India have more or less the same position, including pressing for a peaceful settlement,” said Jokowi.

In addition, Jokowi expressed his appreciation for India’s support for Indonesia’s G20 Presidency. Indonesia will also fully support India’s G20 Presidency next year.

Also accompanying Jokowi in the bilateral meeting with Modi were Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi and Indonesian Ambassador to Germany Arif Havas Oegroseno.
