Jokowi Calls Workers’ BLT of Rp. 600,000 Liquid in Two Weeks

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – President Joko Widodo ensures that direct cash assistance ( BLT) for employees or workers with a salary of under Rp. 5 million, it will be disbursed within the next one to two weeks.

However, President Jokowi emphasized that this assistance is provided only to workers registered with the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan.

“For those who are still working, assistance will also be given, but those who participate in BPJS Ketenagakerjaan,” said Jokowi while visiting the West Java Covid-19 Handling Post at Kodam III / Siliwangi, Bandung, Tuesday (11/8/2020).

“God willing, in a week, these two weeks, this will come out,” he continued.

Each worker will receive assistance worth IDR 600,000 per month for four consecutive months, bringing the total to IDR 2.4 million.

The aid will be transferred directly to each employee’s account in two stages.

A total of 15.7 million employees or workers are eligible to receive this assistance.

The budget disbursed by the government for this program reaches Rp. 37.7 trillion.

In addition to this assistance, President Jokowi said that the government had also provided a number of other assistance to the community in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The assistance referred to, ranging from cash assistance, village BLT, subsidies, and free electricity for certain groups to economic stimulus for small businesses provided through banks.

Then, the government also prepared productive social assistance for 13 million small, micro and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Later each will receive Rp 2.4 million.

President Jokowi explained that a number of assistance was provided to boost the purchasing power of the community, especially the middle to lower class people.

In addition, he hopes that this assistance will boost Indonesia’s economy which contracted or minus 5.32 percent in the second quarter of 2020.

“We hope that this national economic growth will grow better than the previous quarter,” he said.
