Jokowi Arrives in Rzeszow Poland before taking the 12-hour train to Ukraine

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Mrs. Iriana Joko Widodo and the delegation arrived at Rzeszow-Jasionka International Airport, Poland. Jokowi arrived in Poland at around 11:50 local time.

Based on a written statement from the Press, Media and Information Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat, Tuesday (28/6/2022), clear weather welcomed the arrival of Jokowi and his entourage in Rzeszow City, which is about 80 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. Seen on the plane steps, Jokowi and Mrs. Iriana were greeted by the Deputy Governor of Rzeszow Province, Rodoslaw Wiatr, the Indonesian Ambassador to Poland Anita Luhulima, and the Indonesian Defense Attaché Colonel Adi Triadi and his wife.

from the airport, Jokowi and the group will then go to the hotel where the transit. Furthermore, they will use the train for approximately 12 hours to reach the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, in the evening.

Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi previously said that Jokowi would go to Ukraine via Poland. Retno admitted that she continues to maintain intensive communication with various parties regarding visits to Ukraine and Russia.

“The president will continue his trip to Ukraine via Poland. I also carry out intensive communication with various parties in the context of the President’s visit to Ukraine and to Russia. Of course we will continue to do this communication with Ukraine and Russia itself,” said Retno in a press statement.

The Palace said that the agenda for the visit of Jokowi and Mrs. Iriana Jokowi and their limited entourage to Ukraine had been well prepared. But of course, these arrangements are flexible to adapt to the dynamics of conditions in the field.
