Join WhatsApp groups: You have these options

Do you want to join new WhatsApp groups to exchange ideas with other people? We will show you the different options.

Online group conversations have become indispensable in today’s world. Some messengers even offer public groups whose members you can find and add using an integrated search function.

Unfortunately, this has not been the case with WhatsApp so far. One or the other user is therefore wondering: “How can I find new WhatsApp groups and join them?”

You’ll find the answer here.

Different ways lead you in WhatsApp groups

Unlike other messengers, WhatsApp has not yet had a search function for public groups to join them independently. Instead, an invitation from a group admin is required. This is done either directly via the “Add” function in the group information or alternatively via an invitation link.

To find the invitation link to your WhatsApp group, first open the associated group chat on your smartphone. Then tap on the group name to go to the group information.

If you scroll down there, you will see an “Invite with Link” button on the Android app. On the iPhone this is called “Invite to group with link”. As soon as you press this, WhatsApp not only shows you the invitation link, but also offers you several options to share it with other people.

Rejoin a group

If you want to rejoin a WhatsApp group that you previously left, you’ll need a new invitation from an administrator. If you were previously the only group administrator, the app randomly appointed a new admin. To get this status back, ask the existing administrator to unlock you accordingly.

If you have already left the same group twice, the administrator can only add you back to the WhatsApp group after a waiting period of 24 hours. This time window is extended each time you leave the group, up to a maximum of 81 days. To avoid the waiting time, you can rejoin at any time with a link.
