He is the author of an abundant body of work, marked by numerous albums and novels, a work often hailed by numerous literary prizes.

The 2 CV of childhood

And what life means to me is the title of a text by Jack London, it is also that of a collection edited by Martine Laval at Éditions du Sonneur. Collection in which she asked various personalities such as Franz Bartelt, Arlette Farge, Alexis Jenni, Hubert Mingarelli, Gérard Mordillat, François Morel or Gianmaria Testa to respond with their words to this proposal. François Place, for his part, responded by summoning the 2 CV of his childhood: “And if childhood was more of a territory than a moment of time? A place where you can return, without nostalgia or regret, a place full of smells and perfumes, tactile sensations, strangeness. A place where one sharpens one’s curiosity, where incursions into the opaque world of adults are made on tiptoe. The kingdom of astonishment, in a way. And what better than a “deudeuche” to go around? Its mechanical simplicity, its obstinate bravery of a consenting donkey, its slightly short-sighted naivety, which seizes in the yellow brush of its two bowl-shaped headlights the animals crossing the night, make it the ideal vehicle for a hike in reverse, somewhere on the plateau of Millevaches…”

During this evening, the public will take the road in his company. He will read his text The 2 CV, at night , will draw and tell a little about himself during an interview led by Pascal Didier. Another guest of this evening, Valérie Millet, director of Éditions du Sonneur, will talk about the collection what life means to me.
