‘Johnson wants to test truckers’ • Large advertisements explaining vaccines

The national government tries to allay concerns about the approved corona vaccine with full-page advertisements in newspapers. Under the heading “The vaccination can begin” explains how the vaccine could be approved so much faster than usual and what will happen in the near future.

“The European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the Dutch Medicines Evaluation Board (MEB) only approve a vaccine if its efficacy, quality and safety have been demonstrated,” the advertisement states. “The development and evaluation is faster than usual. This is possible because worldwide research into vaccines is conducted simultaneously and knowledge is shared. That saves time.”

The government also says that anyone who gets vaccinated not only protects themselves, but also family, friends and vulnerable people around them. “For example, vaccination ensures that we regain more freedom step by step.”

The start date for the vaccination program, January 8, is also mentioned. Vulnerable people and health workers who work with these people are vaccinated first. Incidentally, people can only be vaccinated on a large scale from 18 January; then the 25 injection sites of the GGD will open.
