Johns Manville: Fiberglass recycling in Slovakia

The US glass fiber manufacturer and insulation material producer Johns Manville (JM, Denver, Colorado / USA) has installed a recycling plant for glass fibers in the existing plant in Trnava, Slovakia. The unit – part of an investment program of around EUR 10 million – houses not only storage and shredders, but also a combustion unit and a cutting unit.

It should be possible to process 3 t of leftover mat, production waste and the like per hour, so a capacity of around 20,000 t / a is presumably possible. After the recycling process, the secondary fibers are ground into powder and fed back into production at the site.
