Joel Armia back with message after corona quarantine – named best player of the match when Montreal took heavy victory | Sports

The battle for the last playoff spot in the Canadian division had intensified as Calgary had won three games in a row. Montreal felt Calgary’s skin in the neck but got respite by defeating the Flames 2-1 last night. Joel Armia played until the winning goal in his second match after a break of more than three weeks.

The 27-year-old Armia suffered from corona in March, but there were no signs of ring rust during the night.

He was named the best player of the match. He stood for a strong job at the rim just before he gave an assist to Tyler Toffoli’s winning goal with just over four minutes left.

– Armia has fantastic hands for being a great man. It’s fun to watch as he plays at that level with great confidence, says chain mate Toffoli.

Calgary can take revenge at home

Joel Armia was also on the ice during Toffoli’s first goal of the evening, so he was noted for a nice +2 in the plus-minus statistics. With tonight’s assists, he has picked up eleven points (5 + 6) in 26 games this season.

Thanks to the victory, Montreal, which is fourth in the division, now has six points to spare on five Calgary. The teams will meet three more times in Calgary in April.

– We won over a team that blew our necks in the battle for the playoff spot. So it was a big victory for us, Toffoli says to AP.

Coronafall i Colorado

The match between Colorado and Los Angeles was canceled due to a corona fall in Avalanche. Joonas Donskoi, Philip Grubauer and Bowen Byram have suffered from covid-19.

The NHL’s management has decided that also Colorado’s meeting with the Kings on Sunday and the match against St. Louis on Tuesday is canceled. The plan is for Avalanche to return from quarantine to training on Wednesday. Provided no new cases are detected.

The NHL has been forced to cancel 53 games this season. When these postponed matches will be played is still unclear.
