Jewish cemetery in Dordrecht daubed with swastikas

Some gravestones at the Jewish cemetery in Dordrecht are covered with swastikas and offensive texts. The Dutch-Israelite Church Association (NIK) reacts shocked and reports.

Yesterday, the user of the cemetery, the Jewish Community of Rotterdam, was informed of the daubing. It happened a few days after the international commemoration of the liberation of extermination camp Auschwitz. “So you see that anti-Semitism still exists, no matter how often you remember and look back,” says the Jewish Congregation.

“Attack on respect”

“An attack on the dead is an attack on memory, respect and human dignity,” the Jewish Congregation writes in a press statement. “This behavior has no place in our society.”

The municipality has also reported this, writes RTV Rijnmond. The zerken are cleaned as quickly as possible.
