Jess Glynne criticises White House deportation video that uses viral Jet2 song

Jess Glynne has expressed her dismay after a snippet of her song became a viral meme, stating it makes her feel “sick” and that her music is intended to promote “love, unity, and spreading positivity.”

The audio, reportedly from a Jet2 advert, has gained significant traction on TikTok, featuring in over 1.9 million videos. Glynne took to her Instagram story to voice her feelings, emphasizing that her artistic message is fundamentally about positivity and not division or hate.

Earlier in the month, Glynne participated in a live recreation of the advert on Capital breakfast with voiceover artist Zoe Lister. During the radio appearance, Glynne commented on the unexpected popularity of the audio, noting the temptation to incorporate the phrase “nothing beats a Jet2 holiday” into her live performances but stressing the need to approach her music with seriousness rather than as a joke.

This incident occurs in a broader context where social media platforms, including official government accounts like the White house, have previously utilized memes. The White House, for instance, has shared images such as one of Donald Trump’s face superimposed onto Superman with the caption “The symbol of hope. Truth. Justice. The American Way. Superman Trump.”

Jet2 has been contacted for comment regarding the viral use of the audio.
