The national Quidditch championship was held all weekend at Colleville-Montgomery (Calvados). Jérôme, a 29-year-old from Lille, played the key role in the Vif d’Or.

He doesn’t have the same wind, but he has the same passion. Saturday November 9 and Sunday November 10, 2019, Jérôme, a Lille from 29 years old, participated in the national quidditch championship, organized at Colleville-Montgomery by the Burning Hippogriffs, the team Caen (Calvados) of this sport out of the imagination of J.K. Rowlings, the “mom” of Harry Potter.
A few seconds, or long minutes
Unlike the other players, who fought over the “souaffles” (balls), Jérôme was in possession of the “golden snitch”, a tennis ball hidden in a sock, hanging on his back. If he only enters at 17e minute of play, the role of the golden snitch is essential since this neutral player can simply end the game. Antoine Leroux, president of Burning Hippogriffs de Caen, explains:
A minute after entering the golden snitch on the field, the catchers – one per team – in turn enter the playing area, and must try to tear off the sock. Whoever gets there earns 30 points to his team. It can take a few seconds as long minutes, knowing that there is no time limit for a match.
During the match between Toulouse and Paris, Jérôme resisted … 23 seconds before being caught. “But the time before, I had lasted more than ten minutes,” he laughs.

A regular player for the Black Snitches (snitch in English) from Lille (North), Jérôme this time devoted himself to wearing the yellow snitch outfit. He tells :
With my work in a design office, in the building field, I knew that I could not participate in competitions this year. So, I wanted to try this post.
At nearly 30 years old, Jérôme has been practicing quidditch for six years:
I came across an article in a magazine that made me want to watch videos. I thought it was funny so I looked for a club in my area and joined the Black Snitches.
For the golden snitch, you don’t have to be quick
For the golden snitch, the primary need is to be impartial. Impossible, therefore, to “snitcher” a meeting in which his team participates. Once on the field, he has two options to make the game last: run while dodging the catchers, or defend himself by putting them on the ground, in the “Harry Riner” style. Jérôme, for his part, chose with a smile:
The others run faster than me, so I defend myself. I assume to be a not very keen gold snitch!
Anyway, Jérôme will have spent a magical weekend at Colleville-Montgomery.
