In the women’s race, the silver German Melat Yisak Kejeta, who broke the European purely women’s record of the Dutch Lornah Kiplagat from 2007 by more than a minute by 1:05:18, and the bronze Ethiopian Yalemzerf Yehualaw (1:05: 19).

Moira Stewartová also gained quick time from the pleasant endurance weather and competition in Gdynia, who approached the Czech record of Eva Vrabcová Nývltová for seven seconds with a performance of 1:11:08. As the best, the Czech Republic took 34th place. Tereza Hrochová (1:12:13) and the 65th triathlete Vendula Frintová (1:13:16) also improved their personal records.

The race was marked by several falls in the leading group. Netasanet defending champion Netudanet Gudeta from Ethiopia made a sharp turn shortly before the tenth kilometer, who did not recover and lost eighth. In the final quarter of the track, world record holder Ababel Yeshaneh from Ethiopia and Kenyan silver defender Joyciline Jepkosgei were on the ground, setting the pace at the time. They didn’t make it either, and only three competitors remained in the lead.

Jepchirchir decided in the finish 150 meters before the finish. The silver of the Ethiopian native Kejeta, who has been representing Germany since March this year, was a surprise. This 28-year-old racer improved her personal record by more than three minutes.

Men, unlike women, started slowly and the top five were completed by forty competitors. Then it gradually accelerated and from the 15th kilometer the field tore a lot. Cheptegei still managed to get from the eleventh place practically to the forehead, but after another attack on Kiplim, he began to lose again.

He also did not catch the winner from Prague and the fastest half marathoner of the season, Kibiwott Kandie, who eventually finished second (58:54), and was later overtaken by the bronze Ethiopian Amedework Walelegn (59:08). He lost thirteen seconds on the Cheptegei Medal.

The silver medalist from last year’s World Championships in cross-country Kiplimo was the most active in the last kilometers. Thanks to the final acceleration, the participant of the September Golden Stilts in Ostrava was the first junior in history to break the 59-minute mark and won the premier title at the World Championships in the half marathon for Uganda.
