Jeolla Ilbo Mobile Site, Jeonbuk Province, Leading Green New Deal Establishment of Offshore Wind Power Value Chain

Jeonbuk Province has taken the first step toward becoming an offshore wind power center through investment attraction from offshore wind power related companies.

On the 17th, Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction, Hyosung Heavy Industries, and Unison (3 turbines) and 2 tower structures including CS Wind and Samgang M&T signed a’Jeonbuk Offshore Wind Power Company Business Agreement’.

In creating the’Jeonbuk Offshore Wind Power Complex’, the five companies that participated in the agreement set the scope and role of cooperation between the help and related companies for expanding the supply of domestic wind power generators, fostering related industries, and promoting regional development.

On the premise of the successful development of offshore wind generators being developed by each turbine company, the province decided to actively support the offshore wind generators so that they can be applied to actual business. It also provides administrative and financial support for offshore wind power parts and equipment manufacturers to attract investment in the province.

The contracting companies made it possible to produce wind turbines in the Jeonbuk region through investment when a certain amount of supply is secured.

The companies that participated in the agreement are manufacturers of turbines, substructures, and towers, which are key equipment necessary for Jeonbuk’s’offshore wind power value chain construction’. When the quantity allocation is confirmed for offshore wind farms in the region, it will actively invest in the installation of production plants.

The demand for offshore wind power equipment such as turbines, towers, substructures and blades will increase as projects such as offshore wind power generation complex (2.4GW, gigawatt) in the southwestern region and offshore wind power generation complex (2GW) near Gunsan Eocheongdo are promoted I am looking forward to it.

In addition, Jeonbuk is the center of the west coast, and it is advantageous in terms of attracting companies as it has excellent geographical accessibility to supply the quantity of offshore wind power projects promoted in Incheon and Chungnam.

When these companies establish factories in the province, Jeonbuk province is expected to become the center of the domestic offshore wind power industry by establishing the status of the offshore wind power integration complex.

In particular, when offshore wind power companies relocate their factories to the province, they are expected to contribute significantly to the creation of jobs and the development of the stagnant economy in the province by fostering related companies and nurturing key personnel.

The offshore wind power complex of 2.4 gigawatts will be built with the aim of creating 90,000 jobs by spending 14 trillion won in Buan and Gochang offshore from next year to 2028, 23 trillion won in economic inducement, and attracting 30 offshore wind power companies.

In the offshore area near Eocheongdo Island in Gunsan, a 2-gigawatt power generation complex will be promoted after 2023 through procedures such as offshore wind power wind condition resource measurement, marine environment survey, and resident acceptance.

Provincial Governor Song Ha-jin said, “We will actively support companies participating in this agreement to successfully settle in Jeonbuk through the creation of the Jeonbuk offshore wind power complex.” “We will build a value chain for the Jeonbuk offshore wind power industry together with companies that wish to invest in We will lead the Green New Deal and leap to the center of the offshore wind industry.” / Reporter Kim Dae-yeon·red@
