It seems that the couple Jens Spahn and Daniel Funke will move into the house soon. According to a report, the top politician and the journalist will move to a luxury villa in a classy Berlin district in the near future. The price of the property is in the seven-digit range.

Federal Minister of Health Jens Spahn has bought a villa in a posh Berlin district with his husband Daniel Funke. The “Business Insider” reports, citing internal documents of the broker, that the property should have cost 4.2 million euros. It is therefore a listed building from the 1920s, which is said to have been rebuilt for the last time in 1950.

At the request of the business magazine, the CDU politician did not want to comment on the matter. According to the report, Spahn and his husband, who runs the capital office of Hubert Burda Media, planned to renovate the building before they move in. The living space of the villa should be 300 square meters.

Spahn and Funke currently live in Berlin-Schöneberg. But it was too busy for the couple there. Whether the possible adoption of children also played a role in the purchase in June is open.

In the current coronavirus pandemic, Spahn has risen to become one of the most widely noticed and most popular ministers in Germany. The 40-year-old supports the North Rhine-Westphalian Prime Minister Armin Laschet in his candidacy for the CDU chairmanship. In December 2018 he faced Friedrich Merz and Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer himself as an applicant for the head of the Christian Democrats.

Through his salary as Federal Minister and his mandate in the Bundestag, for which he receives a diet reduced by half, Spahn has around 25,000 euros a month at his disposal.
