Jekabpils “Lynx” wins “Parnu” led by Kehl in principled five-set battle

On Thursday, the Jēkabpils “Lūši” team won the “Credit24” championship tournament in volleyball in five sets.

The guests of Jēkabpils won “Parnu” with 3-2 (22:25, 25:18, 23; 25, 25:23, 15:13), led by the coach of the Latvian volleyball team Avo Kēls, but Atvars Ozoliņš, Toms Švans and Kristaps Platačs.

The most productive in the ranks with 24 points was Kristers Dardzāns, who performed two elusive services and successfully played twice in the block. Armands Āboliņš added another 14 points, but Vladislavs Blumbergs earned less.

In the “Parnu” team Platačs 18 points, Ozoliņš 16, but Švans added another 14 points. All three volleyball players were the best scorers on their team.

Two days earlier, the Jēkabpils team gave away 0-3 (16:25, 20:25, 23:25) to Tartu “Bigbank”.

Saaremaa leads the league with 26 points in ten battles. “Bigbank” and “Lūši” follow with 18 points in nine matches, “RTU Robežsardze” / ”Jūrmala” can be found with 14 points in eight duels, Latvian-represented “Parnu” has 13 points in seven games, while “Biolars” / “Jelgava” in nine has scored five points in the matches and is in eighth place. Daugavpils University / Ezerzeme also scored two points in six games from the Latvian teams, ranking in the penultimate, ninth place.

This year, ten teams participate in the men’s competition in the “Credit24” Master League – five from Estonia (Tartu “Bigbank”, “Parnu”, “Saaremaa”, Tallinn “Selver” and “TalTech”), four from Latvia (“Daugavpils University” / “Ezerzeme”) , “RTU Border Guard” / “Jūrmala”, Jēkabpils “Lūši” and “Biolars” / “Jelgava”), and among the participants there are again Lithuanian representatives – Klaipeda “Amber Volley”.

At the end of March this year, due to the proliferation of Covid-19, the organizers of the tournament decided not to play in the “Final four” tournament, as a result of which the champions were not crowned.
