JD Sports Fashion announces change in the supervisory board

The British group JD Sports Fashion names two new non-executive directors. Mahbobeh Sabetnia and Helen Ashton are expected to continue to grow the company.

JD Sports Fashion welcomes two new members to its supervisory board. With effect from November 29th, Mahbobeh Sabetnia will become the new Non-Executive Director. She succeeds Heather Jackson, who is stepping down from her position on the Board of Directors after more than six years. Mahbobeh can already look back on a successful career in the field of e-commerce. For three years she worked in various management positions at Amazon and McDonalds. Most recently, she was responsible for Digital Innovation and Growth at the food company Mars.

“On behalf of the Board of Directors and the Nominations Committee, I am pleased to welcome Mahbobeh Sabetnia to the Board of Directors. Mahbobeh has very relevant experience in the digital and e-commerce sectors and her expertise will greatly add to the balance and skills of the JD Board of Directors “, Explains Peter Cowgill, Executive Chairman of JD Sports Fashion.
Helen Ashton, who, like Mahbobeh Sabetnia, was appointed Non-Executive Director, has also been a new member of the management team since November 15, 2021. Ashton is a certified public accountant and can look back on 30 years of experience in listed and privately-funded companies. As the former CFO of the Asos fashion group, Ashton has in-depth knowledge of the high-growth, digital fashion industry in an international environment.

“I am pleased to announce that Helen Ashton has joined JD’s board of directors. She has extensive retail, digital and finance experience,” said Cowgill. Ashton will chair the audit committee and play a key role in the Board play.
