Jazz is freediving, a new case detected after Rudy Gobert

If Jazz and Rudy Gobert were already in dirty sheets since this Wednesday evening, it is a new disturbing episode which has been added to the pile of the leaders of Salt Lake City. Donovan Mitchell tested positive for coronavirus on Thursday, according to Arian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

The beginning of a long list of people affected …? We don’t hope so, of course. But the catastrophic scenario that some projected yesterday is being realized before our eyes. This Wednesday, the Jazz was traveling to Oklahoma City to face the Thunder there. A match that was supposed to take place but was stopped before the in-game was even played, since a member of the OKC medical staff indicated that the match should be put on pause for safety and health reasons . A few hours after this postponement, we learned that Rudy Gobert had tested positive for the coronavirus, and it was therefore in quarantine that the Jazz players found themselves in the Chesapeake Arena. The catastrophic scenario mentioned was that of contamination around Rudy, who quickly found himself at the center of the media scene by being the first NBA player announced publicly as tested positively. There had been rumors around Emmanuel Mudiay, who had also tested positive, but the news was quickly denied. Except that a few minutes before the 4:00 p.m. blows, the Woj arrived on Twitter and told us the bad news. Gobert’s teammate, Donovan Mitchell also tested positive. But worse than that, as can be seen in Wojnarowski’s short report, Rudy’s attitude, already pointed out, would be further affected.

Donovan Mitchell tested positive for coronavirus, according to ESPN. Jazz players have privately reported that Rudy Gobert was negligent in the locker room, being in contact with other players and their belongings. Now a teammate has tested positive.

First reaction, we obviously hope that Mitchell will not experience medical complications, and that his family will also not be contaminated by close contact. But the second reaction, the most striking and which plunges Rudy Gobert into turmoil, it is this set of actions which unfortunately make him pass for a negligent and casual player not to say stupid. It is now public, because relayed by the major American media institutions, the French pivot is at the center of all attention and they are not the sweetest about it. Do we really know How? ‘Or’ What Gobert caught the coronavirus? No. And, like Mitchell, we want Rudy’s health first. Perhaps we will learn later on how this transmission was carried out. But is the Frenchman in the sights of many observers after having had an incorrect and dangerous attitude when preventive measures had been taken? Yes. The media shitstorm presented last night has only just begun, and it will be difficult to recover from it in the short, medium and long term. Before that, the most important thing is to make sure that Gobert, Mitchell, their teammates and their loved ones are not contaminated, and that this sad episode in the making ends in the most positive way possible.

Damn, Rudy …
