Jayson Tatum and Gordon Hayward clutchs, Boston defeats a decimated Magic

Third consecutive victory for the Celtics, winners 122-119 of Magic Sunday. Boston still needed an overtime to get rid of an Orlando team that was playing without Evan Fournier (sick) and Aaron Gordon (ischio).

His team hadn’t scored from overtime before Gordon Hayward (31 points at 12/18, 9 rebounds, 5 assists) does not come and register 3 free throws at 2’29 from the end of it after a foul of Nikola Vucevic (29 points at 11/27, 11 rebounds). His throws put his team ahead – who scored 10 of the overtime’s first 15 points – 115-114. Jayson Tatum, 29 points, had been clutched at the end of 4th with in particular the basket to equalize at 4.2 seconds of the buzzer.

Jaylen Brown finished at 19 points and 12 rebounds. At 4-2 in the bubble, the Celtics were already sure to finish 3rd in the Eastern Conference thanks to the victory of Toronto before the meeting.

The Magic, who had taken a 7-point lead in the 1st quarter before the Celtics returned to 29-28 and then took the lead 55-51 at the break and 87-86 at the end of the 3rd quarter, led by up to 5 points twice in the last 5’14 of the 4th. But Tatum planted at 3-point, Daniel Theis countered a shoot of DJ Augustin and Tatum re-scored behind to tie at 112 everywhere. Celtic then countered a 3-point attempt by Ross 2.1 seconds off the buzzer, and Hayward’s last long failed attempt sent both teams into overtime.
