Kansas Volleyball Inks Serbian National Team Member Jovana Zelenovic

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The kansas Jayhawks volleyball team has bolstered its roster with the addition of Jovana Zelenovic, a 6-7 opposite hitter currently competing with the Serbian Senior National team. Head Coach Matt Ulmer announced the signing, marking Zelenovic as the seventh newcomer and fourth freshman joining the program for the 2025 season.

Zelenovic Brings International Experience to Kansas

Hailing from Novi Sad, Serbia, Zelenovic brings a wealth of experience to the Jayhawks. She is currently participating in the 2025 Volleyball Nations League (VNL) and recently led OK Železnicar to a Serbian National Championship. Her notable height and skill set are expected to make an immediate impact on the team.

Ulmer expressed his enthusiasm about Zelenovic joining the Jayhawks, stating, “Jovana is an impact player on both sides of the ball. She has the ability to score at a high level when everyone knows the ball is going to her. Her block is very imposing to the opposition. She has a very sweet personality and she’s very excited about coming to Kansas. Our fans will really enjoy watching Jovana compete as a Jayhawk.”

Newcomers Join Kansas Volleyball for 2025 Season

Zelenovic is one of seven players signed by Ulmer as his hiring in January. She joins fellow international prospects Selena Leban (Nova Gorica, Slovenia) and Aurora Papac (Požega, Croatia) in the freshman class. Logan Bell (Beech grove, Indiana) rounds out the incoming freshmen. kansas has also added transfers Cristin Cline (Oregon), ryan White (Oregon State), and Audra Wilmes (Washington) to strengthen the squad.

2025 Season Opener Set for august

The Kansas volleyball team will commence its 2025 season at the AVCA First Serve tournament. The Jayhawks are scheduled to face Vanderbilt on August 23 in Lincoln,Nebraska,followed by a match against Penn State on August 25 in Sioux Falls,South dakota.
