Monterrey – Javier Aquino has cemented his legacy as a tigres UANL icon, becoming the club’s all-time leading assist provider after a recent performance against Toluca. The 35-year-old’s contribution marks a decade of impact since arriving in monterrey.
Originally from Oaxaca and with a background in European football and Cruz Azul, Aquino has flourished at Tigres, amassing over 430 official matches for the club. His recent assist in the 4-3 victory over Toluca brought his total to 57 qualifications, surpassing the previous record.
Aquino’s tenure with Tigres has yielded significant team success, including five Liga MX titles, four Champion of Champions trophies, and one Concacaf Champions League title. He was also a key player in the team’s runs to the Copa Libertadores 2015 final and the club World Cup 2021.
Aquino’s impact extends beyond statistics. He scored in both legs of the Semifinals against Pumas UNAM during the Closing 2017 tournament, helping Tigres advance to the final.
