The latest Abarth 124 Spider of Japan is preparing to be sold for a good cause. The latest example of the two-seater sports car made in the land of the Rising Sun e production exit at the end of 2019, will be the protagonist of an online charity auction which is currently collecting offers pending the official closure scheduled for November 29th. The proceeds will be donated to Shine On! Kids who care for children with serious illnesses.
The charity auction is available through the Japanese site of Abarth, with the starting price set at 3.7 million yen, about $ 35,468. Along with the car are also available a limited series of sketches made by FCA Centro Stile. “I am very proud of this charity operation in support of children, which also includes the latest 124 Spider available in the Land of the Rising Sun”, said Luca Napolitano, head of Fiat for the EMEA area. “For Abarth, Japan is the main export market, it is constantly growing and represents a strong tradition for the brand. This charity auction is a testament to how much the Scorpio is linked to this country and especially to its people and pays homage to the first Abarth model produced right here in Japan. Finally, it is also a great opportunity to celebrate the month of the zodiac sign Scorpio, as we do every year ”.
This example of the Italian roadster boasts a celebratory plate, created by the FCA Style Center in Turin, which shows the car on an aluminum plate where the words “Edizione Unica” in red and “Per Semper Tua” appear. This Abarth 124 Spider is finished in white and features black and red leather seats, a satellite navigation system, premium Bose audio and LED headlights. As usual it is powered by the 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that produces 170PS at 5,500rpm and 250Nm of torque at 2,500rpm. Like the rest of the range, the latest model features Brembo brakes, double wishbone suspension at the front and multilink at the rear, and aluminum body panels.
