[아시아경제 임주형 기자] In Japan, a 5-year-old boy died of malnutrition after starving for several days. In particular, the fact that her mother in her thirties, who is accused of neglecting or abusing her son, was mentally’brainwashed’ by an acquaintance, has been shocking Japanese society.

According to reports in Japanese local media such as Asahi Shimbun and the Mainichi Shimbun on the 5th (local time), the Japanese police took the mother of a 5-year-old child, Rie Ikari (39), and her acquaintance Emiko Akahori (48), on charges of abandonment as a protection officer. They were arrested and sent the following day to the Fukuoka Prefecture District Prosecutor’s Office in Japan for prosecution.

They are accused of abuse, including not properly feeding meals to a 5-year-old boy, Mr. Ikari’s biological son.

Ikari’s son, Shojiro, 5, died at his home in April of last year. At that time, it is said that Shojiro was under severe malnutrition, weighing only 10kg, which is about half the average of his peers.

When Mr. Ikari reported to the fire department at the time, “My son does not breathe,” the incident was revealed above the surface.

During the police investigation, a peculiar relationship between Mr. Ikari and Mr. Akahori, an acquaintance, was revealed.

It is reported that the two became friends by sending their children together in the same kindergarten in April 2016. However, after Mr. Ikari divorced in 2019, the relationship changed as he raised three children alone as a single mother.

At that time, Mr. Akahori argued that Mr. Ikari, who hesitated to divorce, “I will take care of what I am eating” and “I can make money by making a divorce trial because of my husband’s affair” and strongly encouraged Mr. It was said to have done.

After the divorce, it was confirmed that Mr. Akahori managed the living expenses of Mr. Ikari himself, and received a total of 10 million yen (approximately 100 million won) in the name of investigating the relationship between the divorced husband and the woman.

However, Mr. Akahori spent the money he received from Mr. Ikari to purchase luxury goods, and he did not even pay for food to Mr. Ikari.

In addition, he instructed the Ikari family to reduce the amount of meals they eat, saying, “To win the alimony lawsuit, you have to save money.” In particular, in the case of children, the specific amount of meals was ordered. As a result, it was revealed that Shojiro had not eaten anything other than water for ten days before his death.

In addition, they were abused, such as installing surveillance cameras in Mr. Ikari’s house, and punishing Mr. Ikari’s family if he did not listen to instructions.

In a police investigation, Mr. Ikari stated, “There was fear about Akahori because he said there was a Yakuza (organized gang) behind him.” He also said that he considered Mr. Akahori as his friend, and that he had no choice but to obey his instructions for fear of paying for food.

The police believe that Mr. Akahori was trying to collect money and goods by controlling Mr. Ikari economically and mentally, and is planning to investigate the exact details of the case.
