Japan won the World Baseball Classic, beating the United States 3-2 on Tuesday night. The United States played at home for the final and were defending champions by virtue of their 2017 title.
The Japanese Superstar Shohei Ohtani was named WBC MVP.

Japan, who also won in 2006 and 2009, lead all nations with three WBC titles. Japan have won all 7 meetings in this tournament, joining the 2013 Dominican Republic team as the only undefeated teams in WBC history.
