János Áder: our country is plagued by the problem of too much water and too little water at the same time

He pointed out that next week, with the support of the foundation, a sustainability theme week will be held again in public education, and in a month, the environmental film festival will be held in Gödöllő for the ninth time.

There are good technological solutions to deal with many problems, a significant part of them could be seen at the Planet Budapest sustainability world meeting, he underlined. He highlighted the structure that makes plastic compostable with the help of bacteria, the construction that washes the car clean with half a liter of water, and the machinery that cleans wastewater with natural biological processes.

Former President of the Republic János Áder, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Kék Bolygó Foundation, will give a lecture to high school students on current climate protection issues and the foundation’s activities on the occasion of Earth Day at the Mathias Corvinus Collegium (MCC) High School Program event in Budapest, in the MCC Foundation building, on April 22, 2023.

He also talked about a Hungarian invention that can extract oil spilled during industrial accidents from water, but he also mentioned the drone sprayer that can be used to access crops without damaging them.

In response to a question, he said that the amount of water and fresh water on earth is constant, but the amount of water that can be used is rapidly decreasing. Efforts must be made to stop pollution and protect waters, because cleaning is a much more complicated and expensive process, he added.

He warned that, according to forecasts, there will be more plastic than fish in the seas by 2050, overfishing must be stopped, and aquaculture will be needed.
