The first-league newcomer from Znojmo welcomes a second reinforcement, just as in the case of striker Radim Matuš, a star-new one: the offensive-minded defender Jan Bartko is returning to the Eagles.
Bartko split the past year between Zlín and Prostějov: together he scored 23 points (5+18) in 46 games and finished ninth in the productivity of first league defenders.
In the past, he even recorded even better individual results: for example, in the 2020/2021 season, in which he worked for Vsetín, he was even the second most productive back in the entire competition. However, Bartek’s career high remains 32 points from the time he played for Frýdek-Místek.
He has already proven his attacking abilities in Znojmo – in the 2021/2022 season, he scored 25 points in 53 duels in the Austrian league. Now he is returning to the Eagles.
“I was in contact with Mr. Ohera, the owner, during the playoffs,” admits Bartko in an interview on the hcorli.cz website. there is a well-built team that will have ambitions to attack the top positions.”
“We will expect more offensive hockey from him. He does a great job on the blue line and plays very well.”
For the twenty-six-year-old Bartek, this will be the fifth job within the Chance League. “I have fond memories of Znojmo. My wife and I had a son here. I’m looking forward to wearing the Znojmo jersey again,” reports the Nové Jičín native.
Bartek’s first goal for Zlín
Bartko collected a great 105 points in his last 160 starts in the first league. Only four other players produced more during the same period: namely Jakub Teper, Šimon Szathmáry, Jan Holý and Jan Pohl.
It is therefore a great boost for Znojmo. “We will expect more offensive hockey from him,” announces head coach Jiří Beroun. “He does an excellent job on the blue line and can play very well. Together with the older defenders who are here, he will be one of the building blocks of the defense.”
