James Cameron may no longer participate in the next ‘Avatar’ films: “I think I’ll pass the baton eventually” | Movie

FilmFilmmaker James Cameron (67) came up with the wonderful story ‘Avatar’ in 2009. Due to the immense success, Cameron decided to add a four-part sequel. The first part will be released in cinemas towards the end of this year. And while the parts aren’t in production after that, Cameron may not be at the helm.

“The Avatar movies are pretty all-consuming,” James Cameron tells Empire Magazine. “I think eventually, over time, I want to pass the baton to a director I trust. So that I can do some other things that I’m interested in as well.” But nothing seems certain: “Or maybe not. I don’t know.”

Anyway, the director is looking forward to the following Avatar storylines: “Everything I have to say about family, about sustainability, about climate, about the natural world, the themes that are important to me in real life and in my cinematic life, I can tell on this canvas.”

The second film, ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’, is set to be released on December 16, 2022. The story takes place fourteen years after the first film. A lot has changed for Jake and Neytiri, who have since settled in the rainforest of Pandora. It promises to be another blockbuster with RDA miners again this time.
