Jalisco is already waiting for the first shipment of vaccines against Covid-19 for children under 11 years of age

Although the way in which it will be supplied has not yet been defined, the Secretary of Health in Jalisco, Fernando Petersen Aranguren, reported that in a first installment, 130,000 vaccines against Covid-19 will reach the entity, which will go to children under 5 and 11 years old.

After the federation announced that vaccination for this sector of society will start in general on June 27 and that 1.2 million doses arrived in the country, the state official said that in a couple of weeks -around July 8- could start the day in Jalisco.

“We are going to wait for the vaccine to arrive to be able to do the programming. The vaccine has already arrived in Mexico City, we will be waiting for the vaccine to arrive, we understand that around 130,000 vaccines will arrive in the state of Jalisco in a first installment.

On the other hand, and with regard to vaccination against the virus, but for those over 12 years of age and that may also be possible in private hospitals, the secretary said that it is done in order to achieve maximum coverage, since soon they will stop apply first doses as they will concentrate on second doses and reinforcements.

“I think that what this does is improve and increase coverage. What we want is to improve this percentage that we have of reinforcements above all, it is important to say that we will no longer be applying first doses. In other words, we have spent more than a year looking for everything world has a first dose, and for those who did not want to be vaccinated, it will be very difficult for them to be vaccinated, so we will be reinforcing the third doses”.

He added that the entity does not have a state of alert due to an increase in infections and that the same logic of using face masks is followed only in places such as spaces in the health sector, public transport and where there are large congregations.

“And we take advantage of the call to help us in that sense (to spread) that in public transport, by agreement of the governor, people must wear a face mask. In these places we do need people to put on a face mask for the amount of closeness that you have in these places”.
