Basketball, humor and animation is the recipe for the new Netflix animated series. “The Hoops” arrives next month, with Jake Johnson in the lead role. The actor, known for playing Nick Miller in “New Girl,” will play a basketball coach who dreams of reaching the top of basketball with his high school team.
Basketball is hot on Netflix. After having marked these last months with the documentary The Last Dance, on Michael Jordan, the platform is about to hit the floor again. This time, the appointment is made in the category entertainment for adults. The platform debauched Ben Hoffman, an American television screenwriter for his new comedy, dubbed Hoops. Hoffman notably worked on James Corden’s Late Late Show. He will be writing the first ten episodes of The Hoops, with Annabel Seymour (The brains). For the animation, we find some of the teams of Paradise Police, also on Netflix, and Central Park on Apple TV +.
In the animated series, a basketball coach dreams of leading his high school team to the top of the sport. To do this, he does not hesitate to push his players, with more than questionable talent, to their limits. To embody this character who promises to be colorful, Netflix called on Jake Johnson. The actor, known for having played Nick Miller in the American sitcom New Girl and for making an appearance in the first installment of Jurassic World, will give the reply to Ron Funches (Trolls). Cleo King (The disastrous adventures of the Baudelaire orphans) et Natasha Leggero (Another Period) will also be there. The whistle for The Hoops will be given on August 21 on Netflix. No doubt the series will find its audience, as Paradise Police before her. Netflix continues to expand its offering with its original productions such as Big Mouth, Disenchanted or even Bojack Horseman.
