Jaguar Land Rover demanded to stop sales of Volkswagen cars :: Autonews

Jaguar Land Rover has accused Volkswagen of illegal use of someone else’s technology. This is a proprietary JLR system called Terrain Response. Reported by Bloomberg Quint.

The patented Terrain Response technology is designed for off-road driving. The system automatically detects the type of surface under the wheels and activates the optimal settings for the suspension, transmission, engine and stabilization system. You can change the driving mode manually using a special selector. This technology is used, for example, in Jaguar F-Pace and Land Rover Discovery vehicles.

The British believe that Volkswagen actually stole this technology from Jaguar Land Rover and is now using it on their cars. We are talking about the Porsche Cayenne, Audi E-tron, Audi A6 Allroad, Audi Q7, Lamborghini Urus and Volkswagen Atlas. Now JLR representatives are demanding a ban on the sale of these machines. They have already submitted a corresponding claim to the US International Trade Commission.

“JLR is committed to protecting itself and its technology in the United States from companies that have introduced copyright infringing products to the market. These firms are complementing their cars with systems designed by Jaguar Land Rover and protected by a patent,” said British attorney Matthew Moore.

However, experts have yet to understand the legality of the use of such technologies by the Germans. Most likely, the process will take several years.
